Often as human beings we are concerned with just our selves, our well-being, relationships, careers and simply what we’re doing later at 4pm. But when I was compiling this list, and stopped to reflect on the great things in my life, the people, places and things I’m grateful for it reminds you that life ain’t that bad. So below is a list (in no particular order) of 32 things I am grateful for:
- Family & Friends, who never fail to be there
- My boyfriend: loving, supportive and dependable
- My education: the privilege to learn and study in a beautiful environment
- The Ability to travel: I have gotten the chance to visit some amazing countries, including Provence, Prague, Iceland, Canada…
- My health
- Clean drinking water & a healthy source of food: More than 10% of the world’s population does not have access to clean drinking water, yet where I live I have an endless source of clean drinking water, I just turn on the tap
- Rest and the weekend
- Access to the internet and being able to connect across the world
- Dogs: lucky to have had 2 gorgeous dogs in my life
- Music, the ability to escape and find inner joy
- Exercise: the freedom of running and the excitement of team sports
- My ability to write eloquently and intellectually – the skills to read and write
- The beauty and security of my country: the varying English countryside
- Sunday mornings in bed
- Perfect, crisp, sunny weather
- Pouring rain where you are soaked through or cosy under a blanket
- Hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows
- Good conversation and a break from social media
- Freedom to vote and voice my opinions
- Hot showers and baths
- Hitting the snooze button on your alarm
- Goodnight kisses
- Being able to dream
- Good hair days
- Sun air and a sea breeze
- Comfortable clothes
- Meeting with old friends
- Senses and the ability to see the world in colour
- The random kindness of strangers
- The ability to capture moments in photographs
- The chance to look and think forward into the future
- The reminder that everything will be okay – even if it seems like it’s not
So instead of focusing on what I don’t have, I am aiming to try and focus on what I do have, even the small things, which are just as important.
A lot of be grateful for….
